About P.S. by Macaron Hoarder

P.S. by Macaron Hoarder is a personal lifestyle blog by Mia Lupo—a Millennial, Francophile, sustainable stylist, and social media addict based in New England.

Mia shares her “day-in-the-life” experiences in her native New England and travels in France, as well as her professional pursuits surrounding sustainable fashion and digital marketing.

By inspiring readers to engage in French culture and New England living, P.S. by Macaron Hoarder also encourages readers to engage with their own surroundings in more authentic, meaningful ways.

Fun Fact: The “P.S.” in P.S. by Macaron Hoarder does not stand for postscript—it actually stands for Penser Souvent the original name of the blog. The French phrase literally translates as “to think often.” After realizing how awful the anglicized pronunciation of penser souvent sounded, the blog name changed to P.S. by Macaron Hoarder.

Bonjour, c’est Mia

Let me break down my story…

What I Do: During the day, I work in retail management for a contemporary fashion brand. On the side, I run a side-hustle as a virtual assistant and freelance social media consultant. And, of course, there’s the blog.

Where I’m From: So. I was born in the Philippines, but I grew up in New England, specifically southern Rhode Island and southwestern Connecticut. I like to consider myself a Rhode Island expat living in Connecticut.

Where I Went to College: In 2014, I earned a B.A. in English Communications and Global Business Administration and Economics at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island.

How I Started Blogging: I started blogging in 2012 when I studied abroad in Oxford, England. I took a bunch of photos and blogged daily during the trip—it was the first time that I realized how I could connect with others through my writing in a real way.

Blogging on P.S. by Macaron Hoarder became a constant hobby in my spare time, especially while I made the decision to move abroad to France in 2017 and join my boyfriend in Neuilly-sur-Seine, a Parisian suburb that’s a stone’s throw away from the Arc de Triomphe.

Why I Keep Blogging: Ever since I can remember, I have always loved writing and style. I blog on P.S. by Macaron Hoarder to share my travels but also use it as a space to authentically express myself and ideas. It sounds so hokey writing about “being authentic,” but this blog is kind of like my own accountability tool to stay honest and real about things that I love…and speak truthfully about the things that I may even struggle with.

What I Don’t Want to Accomplish with this Blog: Well, I don’t want to be mindless with my presence, whether it be physical or digital. For example, I don’t want to lose my personal integrity to earn a certain number of Instagram followers. If I do choose to collaborate with brands on P.S. by Macaron Hoarder, their products, and services resonate with me on a real level.

What I Ultimately Hope to Accomplish with this Blog: I want to encourage others to learn something new and try something different. Yes, I’m sharing my experiences going back and forth between Rhode Island and Connecticut, Connecticut and New York, and New York and Paris, and wherever else… but I hope that my story will inspire others to write their own.
