The Seine River in Paris, France has hit record flood levels
News of flooding in Paris has everyone in a sensationalized panic. Yes, there are reports of rats seeking higher ground. Yes, there will be plenty of damage control necessary to recover local restaurants, clubs, and shops affected by the rising water levels.
It’s incredibly unfortunate, but for now, there’s nothing that can really be done until the flooding recedes.
If you’re not living in Paris and can’t see how much the Seine has risen, here are some before and after pictures of popular areas around Île de la Cité that you will recognize—mostly Notre Dame and Île Saint-Louis.
The before and after pictures may not be so different at first glance. However, if you pay attention the presence (or absence) of people and trees, as well as looking at the bridges, you’ll understand how high the Seine has risen.
This narrative may worsen change if the Seine keeps rising… let’s hope for the best.
