Directed by Phillip Noyce
The decision to cast Angelina Jolie as Evelyn Salt proved successful– I mean, who wouldn’t go see Jolie kill every person in sight while wearing tight black leather?**
So basically Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent, is accused of being a Russian spy and all hell breaks loose when she runs away from the authorities to find her husband. As Salt moves along her journey, she leaves dead Russians behind, marking her path of vengeance in search of justice for her husband.
Too bad the poor storyline canceled out Jolie’s beautifully executed brutality. Yet, the movie moved quick enough that this flaw can be nearly overlooked.
**Apparently Tom Cruise was supposed to star in the movie as Ethan Salt, but the actor declined, claiming the plot was too close to the Mission Impossible franchise. Wise choice.
